St Alban's Students Impress During Work Experience Fortnight
Students from St Alban’s Academy in Highgate got a taste of working life during a two week placement at Optima in January.
15-year-old Liban Jama 16-year-old and Cabdalla Mahdi got involved in many elements of running Optima Community Association, including: going out and about with the wardens, getting an introduction to housing finance, meeting with the chief executive and finding out more about repairs and maintenance.
Liban who wants to be a solicitor said, “It’s been a good experience working with different teams and on your own to learn what the world of work is like.”
Both students are ambitious, planning to go to college to study for their A levels and then on to University and they are particularly supportive of their current school describing it as having a great work ethos.
Cabdalla said: “It’s become a much better school since becoming an academy in September last year.”
Angela Dyer, Optima Community Association’s Head of Regeneration said: “Offering work experience to the students of St Alban's Academyl is something we’re proud to be able to do. We are delighted with their hard work and we wish them all the best with their future studies.”
