We are a community-led housing association based in central Birmingham

We own and manage over 2,000 homes the majority of which are in five estates in Edgbaston and Ladywood. The estates have been transformed through an ongoing £550m regeneration programme which despite the recession has continued.

We want our neighbourhoods to be sustainable communities and  beacons of best practice.

Residents, whether tenants, leaseholders or shared owners, can find out about the services we offer plus there is information about how to find a home with Optima.

The Electoral Reform Society (ERS) posted election papers to all our tenants yesterday, Thursday 26th January,  so that they can vote one of their peers onto our Board of Management.

The ballot papers need to be returned to the ERS by February 17th.

  • 27 Jan 2012New parking scheme for Lee Bank / Park Central to go live today

    The restrictions are:

    ·         Double yellow lines indicating no waiting at any time.

    ·         Parking will be restricted to permit holders only Monday to Friday between 11.00 am and 12.00 noon.  The purpose of this restriction is to stop all day car parking by people working nearby.

    ·         On Rickman Drive parking for resident permit holders only will be between 7.00 am and 11.00 pm.

Parking permits are issued by Birmingham City Council. For more details, visit  http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/parkingpermits

  • 25 Jan 2012Help us fight the bedroom tax

In February, MPs have a chance to vote to stop the Government's plans to slash the housing benefit of social tenants deemed to be 'under-occupying' their homes.

This proposal is effectively a bedroom tax and will have disastrous implications for a huge number of people already struggling to make ends meet.

Please email your MP and ask him/her to vote against the bedroom tax! Follow the link to the National Housing Federation's website and an easy to fill in form that automatically generates an email which you can amend if you wish.

  • 20 Jan 2012 Eviction of tenant for growing cannabis

We have just evicted a tenant from Audleigh House, Lee Bank who was convicted for growing cannabis in his property and for tampering with the electricity supply.

The eviction was a direct result of our close working relationship with the police and shows that although the court process can sometimes take a few months, effective action can be taken where someone does not keep to the terms of their tenancy with Optima.

If you see any anti-social behaviour in your area please ring the Estate Services team on 0121 687 3133.

I am a Resident...

Fuel Poverty

Noticed your fuel bills going up? Struggling to find the best energy deals? On going arrears with your current energy supplier?

We may be able to help you by putting you in touch with advice agencies or organising an energy advice home visit.

Vulnerable residents, such as the elderly, someone with a disability or chronic illness, or mental health issues can be put on a priority register, that all suppliers have access to, which means that their energy supply will not be cut off, even if you are in arrears.  You may also be entitled to a cashback payment from your supplier, called a Warm Homes Discount as well as other help with bills and energy supply. For free impartial expert advice contact  Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99  or Citizens Advice Bureau on 08444 77 1010.

Turn2us is a charity that is campaigning to highlight the issue of fuel poverty and have a handy online calculator to assess if your are likely to be in fuel poverty, that is, if you spend more than 10% of your income on heating and powering your home.
